The existing website was being poorly received within the Retina community and as a patient led organisation it was crucial that content could be read and shared in a coherent and organised way. The new website was designed and developed with principles of Good Service Design in mind.

It was important that we recognised the unique challenges of the Retina International community; the majority of whom have vision impairments and blindness. We made sure that we delivered an experience that was fully aligned to web accessibility best practices.

Our experience working with Design Factory on the re-development of our site is extremely positive! From the outset, it was evident that their Head of Digital, Philip Farmer, recognised the unique challenges and opportunities our request presented; to achieve a website which supports our members and the retina community at large living with progressive retinal conditions, causing vision impairment and blindness.

Design Factory’s attention to detail, willingness and capacity to accommodate all of our requirements with respect to the website’s accessibility and supporting features, while still preserving all facets of good web design is quite remarkable. They conceived and integrated a number of complex concepts seamlessly into our website in line with our requests, so as to capture the essence of our organisation and reflect our scope within the community on a global scale.
